VITUS 979 COMMUTER

We built up this Custom commuter using a late 1980s Vitus aluminum frame that we bought from the infamous Allison. These bikes were a revolution when they came out in 1979. In tough races like Paris Roubaix, half the peloton would be on Vitus bikes. They make excellent lightweight and resilient commuters. This example weighs less than 19 lbs

Highlights include;

  • Vitus 979 bonded aluminum frame in original silver anodized finish\

  • Titanium stem

RALEIGH INTERNATIONAL GRAVEL BIKE

Raleigh internationals are quite pretty with their metallic paint and chrome lugs. And they were considered high performance bikes in their day. But the original Campagnolo Nuovo Record drivetrain and center pull brakes limited their fun factor. So we thought it would be an interesting experiment to build this frame up as a contemporary gravel/do everything bike.

The Shimano 2x 9 speed mountain bike drivetrain gives it a 500% gear range and a 22 inch low gear, low enough for any hill. The bike weighs 23 lbs. It performs at least as well as many new gravel bikes and, of course, looks way classier.

Frame measures 60cm c to c seat tube and 58cm c to c top tube.  So right for someone in the 6′-0” height range.

Highlights include;

  • 1976 Raleigh International frame and fork. Reynolds 531 butted tubing. Original paint in excellent condition.
  • New Yokozuna dual pivot brakes and IRD levers.
  • New 2×9 drivetrain with Shimano XT derailleurs and Ultegra bar end shifters.
  • New Nomad built wheels with Shimano XTR hubs and Pacenti rims.
  • New Panaracer Gravel King 35mm  tires.
  • New IRD cartridge bearing headset
  • Selle Anatomica saddle
  • New Shimano SPD/platform pedals
  • TA specialties crankset
  • GB world map randone bars and GB stem.
  • All new bearings, cables, chain, cassette.
