1982 Trek 614

As found

Trek began building complete bicycles in 1978. This 1982 614 model features a hand made silver brazed Reynolds 531 frame and a do everything geometry somewhere between a race bike and a touring bike.

Jeremy asked us to build a 650 B conversion of a vintage steel bike for his use in riding the 750 mile Paris Brest Paris brevet. This type of conversion switches to smaller diameter, fatter tires as used on classic french randonee bikes.

We retained the original paint. We brazed on cantilever brake bosses and built the bike up using Shimano Dura Ace and XT components and Honjo aluminum fenders. All the components were new and new old stock; since he would be putting many miles on the bike, we wanted the build to be as durable and trouble free as possible.
