Schwinn produced the New World model from 1938 until 1949. It was their attempt to introduce American adults to recreational bicycling by offering a legitimate high performance bike. At the time, American bicycles were only made for children.

The New World was a shameless copy of a Raleigh Sport and was offered with a Sturmey Archer three speed hub or a standard American coaster brake single speed hub.

The notorious Jim Nachlin found this bike in the roadside trash and donated it to Nomad. We choose to give it a practical restoration, adding a few non-original modifications to make it a bit more usable. We built up a wheelset with modern 650B sized aluminum rims (which are 3/8″ smaller diameter than the original Schwinn S6 wheels) We installed a mid 60s Bendix Yellow Stripe two speed hub, giving it a low gear for hill climbing. We also added a Schwinn approved caliper front brake.

V Twins re chromed all of the chrome parts. Franklin Frame repainted the frame in Schwinn red (and removed many small dents in the sheet metal) We replaced every nut and bolt with NOS components. The bike is more or less new and rides as well and easy as a modern bike. (while looking far classier of course).
